BBC Radio 4 - Cafe Hope

We were blown away by the response we had to our founders, Alison Hitchcock and Brian Greenley, sharing their story of how our charity began on BBC Radio 4’s Cafe Hope on 23rd September.

Our inbox exploded with people signing up to write and receive letters - and wanting to learn more about our work. And some of these enquiries came in before the feature had even finished!

As a small charity, reaching people who don’t know we exist but could benefit from our work can be difficult. A feature like this on a national radio station catapults us into people’s homes - and we are so grateful for the impact it’s had.

From the wonderful comments from listeners we’ve already had, we are the charity they wish they’d known about during their own treatment, and the cause they feel they can support and truly make an impact with by writing for our Donate A Letter programme.

Brian and Alison, who founded From Me to You in 2017

Brian and Alison are very used to talking about their story and enjoy spreading awareness of our work in this way. Alison says; “We love how sharing our story always seems to effect people in a positive way. If it encourages just one person to keep the lines of communication open with someone they know who’s facing cancer, or reaches one person with cancer who then requests our letters, we’re happy.”

We’re hoping that this influx of new supporters of our charity will help us with our Big Letter Write Campaign to generate more donated letters in the month of October to meet the increase in demand for our letters (up 25% from last year).

If you’d like to take part, but don’t know where to start, we have a free online letter writing inspiration session with Alison that you can book on for;

Thursday 17th October 7-8pm - book your FREE ticket here.

And, our Autumnal letter writing prompts, below, are also great for when you have writer’s block…
